1-on-1 with Eric and Ben Bostrom

1 on 1The R2SL team was thrilled when Eric and Ben Bostrom agreed to teach 1-on-1 track sessions to high bidders at Miller Motorports Park. Here's what some of the happy winners had to say about their experiences.

I have to say that the one on one with Ben was money well spent.  I learned more in one hour with Ben than I did in three track days with others trying to help me.  Ben was extremely friendly and really easy to talk to. At first I was nervous and intimidated, but after five minutes of talking to him he made me feel a little more relaxed.  He was extremely positive.  He helped me by giving me a positive statement followed by how I could improve upon that.  I have to say the best part was that within ten minutes of working with him I had my knee down which I thought was awesome.  That was such an incredible experience I don't know what would top that. I still can't get over how friendly Ben was and how good of an instructor he is.  Not once did I feel frustrated or feel like I couldn't do it.  For that one hour I felt like anything was possible. This by far has been the most positive riding experience for me.  I feel like Ben actually gave me some confidence that I could actually ride and that I wasn't the slowest one out there....for once I was actually passing people :) This was by far the best way I could have spent my money and best of all it was for the kids!!

1 on 1As a novice with no experience on a "crotch rocket" Eric was an amazing coach.   I had previously never been on a road race track with a motorcycle.  All it took was my track experience combined with his coaching to make me "really quite fast" (according to Eric).  He not only took the time to ride behind and observe, but he also rode next to and in front of me while coaching.  We pulled off the track and he gave me some great insights as to how to corner more quickly.  Most importantly, he told me how to set up for my turns in advance of braking, when to enter, and how to exit.   He had me exiting the last hairpin at over 70 mph and even exiting another corner at over 100mph.  It was an amazing experience, not only to have the time with Eric, but also to have the private time on the track all by ourselves.  Finally, he was gracious with his time after the session as well.  We all "hung out" at the exit to the track and talked shop with Eric, Ben, and Michael Cycz.

1 on 1I learned a lot, after 2 years of racing, I was still doing some things wrong. Eric helped to correct that. In my opinion people were stupid to not bid on this :). In fact if I had not needed so many tires I considered bidding on multiple sessions! This years R2SL event will be hard to top for me, the only regret I have is I didn't raise as much money as I hoped.

Eric was kind and patient with me. He gave me several compliments and good inputs. I especially appreciated the fact that the next day he was still willing to review the notes I wrote down, and give me some training pointers. Eric is a great racer, but more importantly he is a great human being!

Hmmmm, Maybe next year I'll bid on Ben for a comparison.
