2006 Event Wrap-up

Plans for 2006 included a return to Pikes Peak International Raceway but were soon put into limbo when news surfaced that the track had been sold and was to be dismantled. Realizing that a new track was being built in Utah, the R2SL board contacted Freddie Spencer requesting help in securing a date on the 2006 calendar. We were thrilled when track management approved our request and scheduled us for April 13-16. In less than 4 months, the R2SL team went into overtime organizing an incredible event, complete with a star-studded cast including Eric Bostrom, Ben Bostrom, Jessica Zalusky, Jason DiSalvo, Vincent Haskovec, Freddie Spencer, Laurel Allen of RoadRacerX Magazine and plans for the Jordan Suzuki team to be included.

Over 350 riders participated in the event, representing 19 states, Canada and England. Speed TV covered the event with an 8 minute feature on 2Wheel Tuesday.

Our stated goal was $250,000 and our total sponsorship raised was over $220,000. Over $100,000 of that were In-Kind donations and Corporate donations, pledges and silent auctions raised $116,000. We were able to contribute $65,000 directly to our charities!
