Racing 2 Save Lives goes to IMS Show in New York City

virvirThe marketing team from R2SL attended the New York International Motorcycle Show, thanks to Jeff D’Entremont, show director with Advanstar. “Jeff and his team have always worked hard to help us get the word out about R2SL”, remarked Stan Foxworthy, Executive Director with R2SL. “We really needed to let as many people out east know that we are having a second event this year, August 14-17 at VIRginia International Raceway, and this was the biggest show on the east coast.”

R2SL also received help from Todd and Beth with 2Wheel Tuner magazine, allowing us to use their booth as a base of operations and handing out save the date cards. While at the show for three days, the R2SL crew hooked up with old friends David Bertinelli, Dave Williams, Chris Matye and Michael Montgomery from OnTheThrottle.tv. While they were working on a reality show about Chaz Davies, former GP rider, now spearheading the AMA Supersport and FX series for Celtic Racing, they introduced Stan and Corie to Barry Gilsenan, team owner and 125 GP rider. “Barry really rolled out the red carpet for us, and even brought us up to watch Chaz and P.J. Jacobsen compete in an indoor flat track race up in Orange County!” Another friend and supporter of R2SL, Marc Vandament, was working the MV Augusta booth and made sure to introduce Stan an Corie to Vincent Canzanese with Fast By Ferracci. Another fortuitous moment came from meeting 1973 Isle of Man TT winner Peter Williams. Peter was quite interested in what R2SL is accomplishing, and as it turns out, his sister is with the charity Riders For Health, which is doing amazing things to help get doctors out to remote areas in Africa via motorcycles.

Stan and MarcWith tens of thousands of people in attendance, all with the thought of motorcycling on their minds, the response to having an event at VIR was tremendous. Jose from the NY Sportbike Club was quite enthusiastic, “We’re planning on making a trip down to VIR for a track day, this would be really good”. Glen Goldman from Team Pro-Motion, www.teampromotion.com, holds regularly scheduled schools at many of the tracks on the eastern half of the US including VIR, has also offered to help out with the event. “We hold schools down there, so we could add a lot to the event in the way of instructors and we even have a two-up R1.”

“It was such a pleasure to meet all of these wonderful enthusiasts, I hope we get to see all of them out at VIR this august,” said Stan, “It’s looking like this could be quite the turn out, I can’t wait!”
