Racing 2 Save Lives Checking Out Miller
April 7, 2007
Greetings R2SL’ers!
We just got back from a great trip out to Miller Motorsports Park and Salt Lake City, where we were able to finalize many of the details for our upcoming event in three weeks. The weather and the facilities were absolutely perfect, in the mid seventies, sunny and barely a hint of a breeze! I can’t wait for us to be riding here.
Once again the staff at MMP is excited to have us out and is planning a couple of neat extras! On Friday evening, they are planning on showing “The Doctor, The Tornado and The Kentucky Kid” on the Jumbo-tron across from the clubhouse, where they will be serving food and drinks, and Saturday night will have a Cinco de Mayo buffet above the GP garages available to participants and guests.
Meetings with Chris at Utah Sportbike Rental and Warren Rose were fruitful and they will also help with getting the word out to more potential sponsors for the event. Chris is giving special pricing to our participants for rentals and is donating a couple of one day rentals to the Silent Auction.
We were also able to connect with one of last years participants, Dave, who happens to own a great Irish Pub called the Piper Down (and a Ducati 1098 too!). It’s located at 1492 South State Street, so if you get a chance, stop by and say hello!
Neil and Ray from Pixels Photo and Frame are putting something great together for the event. There will be an on site photo lab to print the shots that are taken of the days events and the participants on track. Make sure to check this out! They will also be holding a workshop for photographers that want to improve their Motorsports action photography skills and donate the proceeds to R2SL.
Others that we got to spend a little bit of time with included Roger Bennett at Plaza Cycles, Kevin at Accolade Motorsports, and some new folks, Jonathan and Jenna, from a company called Eco Moto Scooter Warehouse.
Last but not least, Betty, the manager at the Flying J gas station and restaurant at the Tooele exit off I-80 will be making a very generous offer (more on this soon!) to all of the participants of R2SL. Make sure you thank them when you stop by!
See you out there!
