Want to Volunteer?
VolunteersOur volunteers are the heart of our organization, and literally make it possible to do what we do. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please email . In addition, our next Volunteer Meeting will be held at the following time and location, and all are welcome to attend and learn more: Positions Available In addition to event staff volunteer positions, we have a number of pre- and post-event roles in need of dedicated, passionate people to fill them. Some jobs only need an afternoon to complete, while others will take a longer term commitment. Whatever your capabilities and available time are, we’d like to hear from you! These are descriptions of many of the positions available. In cases where we prefer a specific type of experience, we’ll mention it; however if you don’t necessarily match those skills but still think you can make it happen, let us know! We strongly believe in letting passion drive success. Non-Event Positions Open: Media and Marketing: We need people to tackle getting the word out to local and national media, including print, TV, and web. We also need folks to help with press releases, and getting press kits assembled and sent out. Silent Auction: Though the Silent Auction only runs at the event, we need a few people to help organize the merchandise, and make pickup runs from dealerships and shops who sponsor us about a month before the event. Corporate Sponsorship: The people in this role help to ensure the financial success of R2SL. As such, it is important that you be articulate, professional, and well spoken. This job involves approaching companies of all sizes, so a sales or fundraising background may be beneficial. Graphics and Image: We need some talented graphic artists familiar with standard editing programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) to help with logo and graphics work, and print media design. Event Follow-Up: After each event, we have a lot to do! Though most of our information is maintained electronically, we still print letters to thank our participants, sponsors, and pledgers. We also have to take stock of our assets, reconcile our financial books, and perform numerous other small tasks. All of these things take a small but dedicated army of people to do. Event-Related Positions Open (both MMP and VIR): Volunteer Managers: One of the most important positions in our organization (seriously!), this requires presence at the event for the duration, including our setup day. This job requires tact and a cool head, as its sole purpose is managing all event volunteers including tasks, time slots, breaks, and volunteer riding time. We need volunteer managers at both our MMP and VIR events, though this can be done by the same person if they can commit to the time requirements. Be the first one in and the last one out, but have a great time doing it! Some management experience is preferable, but not required. Track Staff: As you might guess, we have a fair amount of people just operating the track for our participants. Without these people the bikes would stay in the pits, so these are very important jobs. Previous experience is not needed, but ability to stay focused and on-task is an absolute must. You will be in areas close to high speed vehicle operation (which also means you have the best seat in the house), so we also require track volunteers to be at least 16 years of age and of good health. Track positions include corner crew, crash pickup, track entry/exit control, and race control. Of these, only the last one requires some previous experience either controlling a motorcycle road course or working turns at one. Paddock Staff: To run our event takes dedication, and nobody exemplifies this more than our paddock volunteers. Whether handling rider registration, talking with our participants, working “tech” inspection, or helping out in other ways, our paddock crew is crucial to the success of our events. Media: We need advanced or professional photographers and videographers willing to donate their time and skill to documenting our event and the participants. Experience working around an active racetrack environment (preferably with bikes) is mandatory, due to the increased vigilance you’ll need to maintain at all times. We also need some people having basic Photoshop experience, to help crop and edit the photos for public consumption. Charity and Celebrity: We have various well known racers and other celebrities at our events, along with representatives (and sometimes kids) from the charities we benefit. We need a small group of people to help these special guests with what they need. Charisma, a warm smile, and being great with kids are must-haves. To volunteer for any position, or even just to get more information about them, email us at volunteers@racing2savelives.org. We’d love to hear from you!
